Festivals

Playwriting

The Playwriting committee : –

  1. organises the Scott Salver Competition for original scripts entered for One Act Festivals throughout Scotland. Winner presented with Scott Salver at Scottish Final each year;
  2. organises the Geoffrey Whitworth Competition for original scripts entered for One Act Festivals throughout UK. Winner presented with Geoffrey Whitworth Trophy at British Final each year;
  3. organises the One Act Play on Words Competition open to all writers based in Scotland. Winning playwrights are mentored by a professional tutor to develop their script for performance and possible publication. A new competition will be launched in 2026.

National Library

Communication – Media Team

The Media Team manages all communication for the Scottish Community Drama Association, keeping members and the wider community informed and engaged. This includes social media, the website, the monthly e-newsletter, and Scene magazine.

Working collaboratively, the team promotes SCDA activity across Scotland, supports clubs with free publicity, and continues to develop new ways to share the stories of amateur theatre. New ideas and volunteers are always welcome.

UKCDFF

This committee forms SCDA’s representation on the British Final organisation UKCDFF along with Wales, Northern Ireland and England.
