The Antonine Theatre Group was founded in 1960 by local councillor Jimmy Bissell. The group moved into its own premises, The Fort Theatre in 1969, an old farmhouse barn which the members converted into a suitable performance space. We are still very much active in the community today! Over the years a number of famous performers have graced our stage including Billy Connolly, Peter Capaldi (Dr Who), Lesley Fitz-Simons (Take The High Road) and Scott Peden (Emmerdale). Our recent efforts to promote inclusion were recognised by the Scottish Government. In particular our annual pantomime where all performances are tailored to meet the needs of all, a first for Scottish theatre. The Scottish Government paid tribute to the committee and members for our continued commitment to sharing our time, energies and acting talents to uplift the local community.
