 We’re thrilled to invite you to this year’s Annual General Meeting Weekend, at the Stirling Court Hotel, as we step into our Centenary Year! Join us for workshops, networking, meals, and discussions as we celebrate the creativity and community of SCDA.

This weekend isn’t just about the AGM – it’s about connecting with friends, sharing skills, and celebrating everything that makes SCDA special as we move into our Centenary Year.

TUTOR – OAT JENNER
ACTING SKILLS
Biog – Oat is a Welsh/Thai actor, teacher and facilitator living in Scotland.  He is currently a part-time lecturer at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.  Oat’s credits include: Travelling Past (short film), The Tourist (S2 BBC), The Expendables 4 (Lionsgate films), Julius Caesar (Company of Wolves), Princess Mirror-Belle (CBBC)

WORKSHOP DETAILS
The workshops are aimed at people who have some experience of acting.  Workshop 1 will look at how to find clues in the text to develop and maintain characters truthfully.  Workshop 2 will focus on the skills needed to connect and use both body and voice on stage.
 
 
TUTOR – NEAL CLARK
 SOUND & LIGHTING DESIGN
Biog – Neal is a Sound Engineer and creative collaborator from Thurso, He is a graduate of the Production, Technology and Management course from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland where he studied all aspects of technical theatre. Neal has been involved in many different projects since graduating, involving sound design, production and sound engineering. The most notable are working as a Production Sound Engineer on GlasGlow & The Edinburgh international festival.
Neal’s first experience with SCDA was with Thurso Players and taking part in the SCDA northern final in Plockton. This is where he was bitten by the theatre bug, and it helped him understand the importance of technical skills in an SCDA setting. The SCDA and the Thurso Players were responsible for him pursuing a professional career in technical theatre.
Neal regards community drama as an essential part of society and is eager to ensure that his portfolio of work includes upskilling and supporting anyone involved in the technical aspects of theatre.
WORKSHOP DETAILS PRACTICAL SOUND 
This practical workshop is aimed at people who have some experience of or a strong interest in sound design.  Working from a text, we will create a dynamic design  that we can go on to create. 
WORKSHOP DETAILS PROJECTION
This practical workshop is aimed at people  who are interested in or have used projection in productions.  We will look at how to improve the quality and also explore creative ways of integrating projection. 

 

  
 
TUTOR – Eve Nicol
DIRECTING SKILLS
Eve Nicol is a theatre director and playwright from Glasgow who has worked at the heart of Scottish theatre for fifteen years.
 
She creates award-winning new writing and music theatre, which has toured across the UK and US.
 
Eve’s work includes world premieres for Traverse Theatre (I Can Go Anywhere by Douglas Maxwell) and National Theatre of Scotland (The Drift by Hannah Lavery), productions for BBC Arts & Avalon, Tron Theatre and Middle Child, alongside associate director credits on productions with Raw Material, Vanishing Point, and Francesca Moody Productions.
 
She is a former Resident Artist at the Tron Theatre and Digital Associate of the National Theatre of Scotland.

WORKSHOP DETAILS DIRECTING
Workshop 1 focuses on the preparation that a directors does -specifically how to analyse the play in order to find their own direction within it.  Workshop 2 looks at the rehearsal room, how to set up an environment that gets the best out of actors and stay on track.
